This is Benji,
I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, it has been two years since I moved to Reno to pursue an education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Studying here was the most optimal choice for me because of my responsibilities outside of my education, such as my service in the Nevada National Guard and supporting my family in their business, Roberto’s Taco Shop. I am pursuing a degree in Business Information Systems mainly to aid me in my pursuit of success in the military, I plan on building my career as a an active duty guardsman and hopefully becoming a helicopter pilot in the future through the army. While doing so, I plan on continuing to support my family and work full time at the restaurant throughout the year.
Through my time in the army and customer service at Roberto’s Taco Shop I have developed skills in communication, team management and task management. To include time management as I have had to multitask being employed in both areas alongside maintaining my grades in College. The fast pace standards the army has also has developed me into becoming a fast learner in anything I do. As of right now, I am capable of maintaining, repairing, and programming radios in the military as well as being able to lead soldiers in day to day tasks. On the civilian side, I work as an assistant manager which involves plenty of problem solving and communication skills with customers ensuring customer satisfaction and consistency in sales everyday.
Outside of the workforce and my education I enjoy being able to take time off and relax having quality time with my girlfriend or family. I also enjoy playing soccer and am actually a part of the University of Nevada, Reno Men’s Soccer Club and each semester travel to compete against other schools in our division and area. Other than that though, I live a very peaceful and tame life outside of school and work since I find myself very tense and overwhelmed. I hope to one day be comfortable enough financially and be confident enough to simply relax everyday and enjoy nature day by day, however I still try and enjoy life where I am at right now by trying to learn new hobbies every year.
