The craziest scam situation I have experienced..

As each day comes and goes the amount of scammers I hear about at my workplace continues to increase and at this point it’s become more of a nuisance than a problem for me at work. However, one day while my family and I were out and about celebrating my brother’s birthday I had received several extensive messages from my coworkers about a situation going on at the workplace. My parents being the owners were also being spammed with messages about a specific coworker who was running around panicking and leaving the workplace during a rush for more than half an hour. Once we had realized that clearly something was wrong we rushed over took care of the rush and tried to figure out what is going on with my coworker. After talking to her and trying to calm her down it turned out a scam caller tried to get her to leave the workplace during her shift to do “errands” for the owners by going to an ATM on her own avoiding any communication with the owners and her coworkers to try and deposit cash. It was clear that it was a fools scam and that normally anyone would pick up on it immediately, but that was the thing the reason my coworker had fell for this scam was because the scammers used an extensive amount of personal information that no one supposedly could’ve known about. While it was alarming they had that information we did our best to quell the nerves of my coworker and ensure she didn’t feel guilty or dumb for what had happened. After this we realized not everyone is as aware or able to identify these situations under such pressure such as a late night rush at work, so we educated all of my coworkers on warning signs and ways to simply ignore these scammers to not escalate the situation. To this day we still receive calls from them attempting to stir up a mess, but from here on out we ensure everyone that works with us is knowledgeable that anyone who calls or arrives asking for anything related to money to simply leave it to the owners and not let themselves do anything they might regret.
